How to become more energy efficient

  1. Have the right thickness of loft insulation to prevent heat loss through the roof (new building regulations specify 270mm (10.5") depth)

  2. Cavity wall insulation could save you up to £100 a year on your fuel bill

  3. You could save energy by fitting a jacket on your hot water tank if it does not have one

  4. High efficiency condensing boilers can save you around a third on your heating bills

  5. Replace old appliances with A-rated energy efficient ones

  6. Use energy efficient light bulbs that use less electricity and last 12 times longer than conventional ones

  7. Fit thermostatic radiator valves to help you regulate the temperature of the room
Where Does All The Energy Go?

The diagram shows that by far the greatest proportion of heat is lost through the walls of your house – so think about it. Next time you spend thousands on double-glazing to cut your heating bills – you could spend a few hundred on Cavity Wall Insulation and save a fortune!
